Continuing botanical study is also a way of honouring paths and knowledge. The root drawn here is a gift from Cacica Senhora Pankararé, from the Paulo Afonso region in Bahia.

Observing the texture of this root, so central to the rituals and the resistance of the peoples of the Caatinga, demands an attentive eye and a stroke that respects its science. It is an exercise in understanding the form and the essence of a plant that is, at once, strength and ancestry.
